My first blog is not at all what I had envisioned years ago when I use to read a blog from my co-worker Caitlin. Caitlin had quit her job, sold all her clothes, and moved to Africa to serve in the Peace Corps. I used to read her blog as she journeyed in this new and unfamiliar place, helping the natives, sharing once in a lifetime pictures, hearing stories of triumphant and sadness, and inviting me and others to be observers in her adventures. I enjoyed watching her in a different way then how I saw her at work - a quiet but very funny co-worker/friend who always had great snacks at her desk. So, I made a mental note after reading and watching her blog for over a year that I would someday share my experiences with the world and hope that they would gain the same love and interest that I did when I followed Caitlin's blog.
It is interesting that I chose Blogger to do my blog, this is the same platform that Caitlin used. I actually had used Kid Blog using a free trial in the past and my colleagues recommended it during this year's Professional Development. However, I did not want to incur any cost when creating my first blogging platform. When I decided to use Blogger it was mainly because it was google friendly, and I am really liking a streamlined digital experience as I continue to cultivate and build my professional digital presence.
So far my experience has been fair to the middling. I am anxious and overly concerned about doing everything perfect first round with no room for error. Well, that obsession has caused me to make some minor mistakes and lose some possibly much-needed rest. It is a cycle of spending a lot of time worrying and then making sleep-deprived mistakes later. So, I have decided that I will continue to try my best...BUT I shall not obsess. There is a thin line in knowing the difference so I will go by the creed that I tell my own students, your best is a journey not a destination.
